Today's Democrats worse than Nazis?

I agree – it's a despicable question and unworthy of a response. But
then I'm not the one who framed it. Democrats in California may not be
aware of it, but they've not only asked the question, they've dug an
even a deeper hole for themselves by demanding that voters answer it. I
hope Mr. Davis and his fellow Democrats like the answer.
Dumping a last-minute load of campaign filth on one's political
opponent has become routine practice for Democrats. What it says to the
voters is: "We know you don't like our candidate. We know you don't like
our agenda. We know you don't like our leadership or lack thereof. But
look how bad this other guy is! If you don't elect us, you'll get him!"
The "him" in this case is Arnold Schwarzenegger. Through their media
campaign operatives (commonly known as reporters, editors and news
anchors), Democrats put the word out: Arnold had a "Nazi background" and
was a "sympathizer." Prominent Jewish groups disagreed, but Democrats
dug in their cloven donkey hooves. Finally, they had a campaign issue:
"No matter how incompetent, crooked and spendthrift we are, just look at
the alternative!"
As this column is written, voters are doing exactly that.
I'm sure Democrats in California and elsewhere don't view themselves
as Nazis. But there are some uncomfortable parallels. The Nazis were
socialists. The official name of their party was the "Nationalsozialistische
Deutsche Arbeiter-Partei," which we know as the National Socialist
German Workers' Party. And the similarities?
The Nazis supported euthanasia. Democrats and their judicial
operatives support euthanasia, even when it's against the family's
wishes. When you finish here,
check out the Terri Schindler-Schiavo story.
The Nazis supported human experiments by doctors and scientists. At
Nuremberg, 20 Nazi doctors were brought to justice for human
experimentation at the Dachau, Auschwitz, Buchenwald and Sachsenhausen
concentration camps. Yet Democrats in America have nothing but contempt
for Christians and others who see ethical problems in human embryo
experimentation.
Nazis supported eugenics in the hope of "breeding a better race."
Democrats have resisted efforts in Congress to control cloning and
genetic engineering, which will ultimately be tried on people by
scientists who see themselves as above ethical dilemmas.
The Nazis supported gun control.
According to Jews for the
Preservation of Firearms Ownership, "the Gun Control Act of 1968 was
lifted, almost in its entirety, from Nazi legislation."
The Nazis were masters of propaganda. We call it "spin."
They had a
plan for Christmas and other religious holidays: "The Nazis set
about establishing their own rituals and holidays immediately after
taking power. This interesting article from the party journal for such
matters discusses what to do with existing holidays and rituals, most of
which had a Christian basis. It suggests that holidays such as Christmas
can be given new content, turning them into Nazi holidays rather than
religious ones." Kwanzaa or Christmas? Spring Break or Easter?
Democrats didn't have to frame the California recall election as an
"us vs. the Nazis" issue. As the items above show, there are many
reasons they might have wanted to avoid that discussion completely.
Democrats, including Mr. Davis, could have run on their merits: ever
higher taxes on business to drive more jobs from the state, increased
welfare spending to support those subsequently unemployed, increased
benefits and pandering to illegal immigrants, militant homosexuals,
public education monopolists and other core constituents. They could
have, but even Democrats might be smart enough to know that their agenda
is at odds with the hopes and dreams of most Americans in California or
elsewhere.
Democrats in California didn't want an election – even when voters
went to extraordinary measures to demand one. Once an election had been
scheduled, Democrats tried their best to stop it – they went to their
racial-interest groups and filed a lawsuit demanding removal of the same
voting machines that had at the last election returned Gray Davis to
power, describing them as "unreliable" to the court. When a three-judge
panel of Democrat judges at the Ninth Circus were unanimously overturned
by a larger selection of their peers, allowing the election to go
forward, Democratic attorneys began preparing court challenges of the
election outcome even before it had been held.
Whatever else you can say about the Democratic Party, one thing is
certain. Today's Democrats bear little resemblance to democrats. |
